As to Mr. Backhouse, our friends and we are

anxious that this gentleman's valuable knowledge be used to the

fullest, in co-operation with the efforts of Messrs. Wicking;

and it was for this reason that, whilst thanking Your Excellency,

we ventured to add to our cable our friends' and our own

respectful request that Mr. Backhouse be appointed as adviser

to Messrs. Wicking. This cable being dated 10th inst. reads:

"Much obliged your reply and assurance. Pray on

behalf manufacturers and ourselves appoint Backhouse

adviser to liquidator of firm mentioned."
